When a spreadsheet is more useful than a vCard file.
A VCF file is designed for transferring contacts between devices and apps. It is excellent for importing — but nearly impossible to edit, filter or analyze in bulk. You cannot open a .vcf file in Excel, sort contacts by company, or find duplicates without converting it first.
Converting VCF to CSV gives you the full power of a spreadsheet over your contacts. You can clean the data, remove duplicates, add new columns, filter by country or company, and then re-import the cleaned list back into your phone or CRM.
This workflow is especially common when migrating contacts between platforms — for example, from iPhone to Android, from Gmail to Outlook, or from a legacy CRM to HubSpot. The standard path is: export VCF → convert to CSV → clean in Excel → re-import.

Most CRMs (Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, Pipedrive) prefer CSV imports over VCF. Converting your contact export to CSV gives you a file that maps directly to CRM fields without manual re-entry.
Finding duplicate contacts in a VCF file is impossible without a spreadsheet. Convert to CSV, use Excel's Remove Duplicates or VLOOKUP to find overlaps, clean the list, and convert back to VCF for import.
